EAEU trademark registration to be available after 2020
The agreement on trademarks, service marks and appellations of origin of goods (AOG) in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAE) was signed at the meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) in St. Petersburg on December 5, 2018. Following the meeting the agreement will come into force after 2020 as soon as the instruction, regulations for the implementation of the registration procedure and technological documents are approved.
The agreement will make the procedure of trademark and the AOG registration on the territory of the EEC member countries (Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan) centralized, simple and more cost effective for applicants rather than submitting separate applications to the Patent Offices of five countries.
