IP State Service of Ukraine delegated authority to a government department

As we reported earlier, the State Service of Intellectual Property was abolished by the decree of the Ukrainian government, still it continued to perform its functions before the transfer of authority to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

On May 11, 2017, the authority on implementing state policy in the sphere of intellectual property which was carried out by the State Service of Intellectual Property was devolved to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade in accordance with the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The issuance of all titles of protection documents (patents, certificates) in the field of intellectual property is performed by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade from the day of the entry into force of this act (May 18, 2017).

According to the Government this decision is another step towards the establishment of the National authority of intellectual property, provided by the Plan of Priority Actions of the Government in 2017 and the Concept of Reforming of the State System of Legal Protection of Intellectual Property in Ukraine.
