Ukrpatent transfers its functions to UANIPIO

The reform in the intellectual property field of Ukraine has been going on since 2016. As a part of this reform, on October 28, 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine ordered to transfer the functions of the National Intellectual Property Authority from Ukrpatent to the state organization Ukrainian National Office of Intellectual Property and Innovation (UANIPIO).

UANIPIO will start performing the functions of the national intellectual property authority as of November 8, 2022. The government states that the transition process will proceed smoothly and unnoticed for the applicants because most of the qualified experts from the Ukrpatent will continue their work in the newly created structure.

These changes are aimed at creating an IP office that will attract inventors and businesses to register their developments and subsequently increase their capital and earn from intangible assets.
